Two hundred thousand square meters on the axis of the railway link to be redeveloped with a strong innovative imprint: this is the development objective of the Promoting Committee of Turin Innovation Mile, a project officially presented on Thursday 15 February in the subalpine city.
The promoters of the initiative have set themselves the aim of bringing to the attention of stakeholders the issues of environmental sustainability, decarbonisation, innovation and social inclusion, technological and digital integration, so that the development of certain brownfield areas can be a new reference model for the regional capital of Piedmont.
The Committee in question is participated by public and private partners, such as Environment Park, Infra. To, Liftt, New Cleo, Nexto, OGR, Planet Smart City and Polytechnic of Turin.
Eight of them have already signed the articles of association and the last two will do so within the following days.
The coordination of the Committee will be entrusted to the president Davide Canavesio, also at the top of Nexto, and to the two vice-presidents: Stefano Corgnati, elected Rector of the Polytechnic of Turin, and Giacomo Portas, president of the Environment Park.

Davide Canavesio: “A mix of actors among the most dynamic and innovative in the entire North-West”

“Today is an important day for our territory because, after months, if not years, of visions for the future and dialogue with local stakeholders, we are able to present a promoting committee, which brings together a mix of actors among the most dynamic and innovative that the North-West can express"Said David Canavesio, president of Nexto.
“The task of this committee, which will gradually expand to include actors interested in settling in these areas, will be to ensure that in a short time these lands, which are now disused and abandoned, can become an iconic place bringing development and employment for the territory".

Stefano Corgnati: “Green and digital engines of a continuous dialogue between technology and society”

“This initiative accelerates Turin's vocation as an innovation hub where green and digital transitions become drivers of a continuous dialogue between technology and society, increasingly fair, innovative and inclusive. These are themes that become the guide for urban development guided by principles of sustainability", points out Stephen Corgnati, Rector elected of the Polytechnic of Turin.

Turin Innovation Mile: between Porta Susa and the Environment Park of the subalpine capital, 200 thousand square meters of a hub for innovation, sustainability, decarbonisation, social inclusion and technological and digital integration will be built
Two areas, currently owned by FS Sistemi Urbani in Turin, have been identified by the Promotion Committee on the ideal Innovation Mile, the axis that leads from the Polytechnic to the Dora station, with the Porta Susa railway station in the centre. The first area is located in the central area between the Porta Susa station and the OGR, at the intersection between Corso Bolzano and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II: over 52 thousand square meters of gross surface area, well connected by the Porta Susa railway and underground station and from the bus station for Turin and Milan Malpensa airports.

Giacomo Portas: "The interest will lead us to satisfy only 30 percent of the requests..."

“We are launching one of the most important initiatives for the development of the city in the coming years. We firmly believe in this project, so much so that we have already met Ferrovie dello Stato twice to discuss the areas of their competence. For the Environment Park, the prospect of a new settlement that marries so well the vocation to ecological transition is particularly strategic", adds Giacomo Portas, president of the scientific and technological park for the environment of Turin.
“In fact, we have more and more requests from companies that want to settle in our spaces, to the point that we are unable to satisfy 30 percent of the requests. We therefore need more space, but it must be quality space and with certain characteristics. The launch of the Turin Innovation Mile on Corso Principe Oddone goes exactly in this direction."

Two areas, currently owned by FS Sistemi Urbani, have been identified by the Promoting Committee on the ideal Innovation Mile, the axis that leads from the Polytechnic to the Dora station, with the Porta Susa railway station in the centre.
The first area is located in the central area between Porta Susa station and the OGR, at the intersection between Corso Bolzano and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.
Over 52 thousand square meters of gross surface area, well connected by the Porta Susa railway and underground station and the bus station for the Turin and Milan Malpensa airports.
There, the construction of a building that constitutes a landmark in relation to the San Paolo skyscraper and the Porta Europa area is also planned, creating a triangle of visual relationships that marks the entire intervention included in Spina 1.
The second area is adjacent to the Environment Park technology park, between Corso Principe Oddone, Piazza Baldissera, Corso Vigevano and Corso Umbria and runs alongside the residential complexes built in the Spina 3 transformation project.
This is 143 thousand square meters of surface area, on which new innovative buildings can be built in full respect of the existing historic building, which must be included in the transformation of the area.
The two areas have already been the subject of architectural and urban planning studies.
The promoters of the Committee look to the areas identified as places of physical expansion of their development plans.
