Lamborghini design is extraordinary and inimitable, and today's models are born from more than sixty years of inspiring, cutting-edge originality.
However, performance is also rooted in the brand's heritage and DNA: aerodynamics represents a fundamental and continuous innovation within the design studio. design and the teams of research and development.
A video, entitled “Beyond design, mastering the air”, pays homage to the mutual relationship that exists between Lamborghini's design and aerodynamics through the stories of Mitja Borkert, Design Director and Head of the Style Centre, and Ugo Riccio, Coordinator of Aerodynamics, Aeroacoustics and Thermal Management of Vehicles.
The two reflect on inspiration and constant research, on a personal level and inherent to the essence of the products of the Sant'Agata Bolognese company, which combines art and science to create masterpieces such as the new Revuelto.

Mitja Borkert: “Inspiration from music, art, other cars, memories: with us you take steps forward into the future”

“I take inspiration from many things to design cars”, explains Mitja Borkert.
“Music, art, other cars I like, memories. We are always several steps ahead into the future, we design, we push boundaries, we refine, we reflect, we create trends: all these aspects emerge in the Revuelto.”
The Lamborghini design is marked by a rhythm, a beat, each component and each note are connected to the following ones to create a unique piece, a shape.
“You can see at first glance that aerodynamics is truly part of the Revuelto. But it's not about the simple appearance: it is intrinsic to the tension of every line, the power and solidity of every surface, but with a sensitivity to the softest and most human shapes that welcomes the flow of air. Design must marry perfectly with aerodynamics: this is our religion."
Mitja Borkert, Design Director, heads the Style Center with 20 collaborators who coordinate a team of 60 specialists, while Ugo Riccio, in the Research and development, works together with 7 engineers who deal exclusively with aerodynamic aspects.
Working closely together, our design and R&D teams are constantly working, challenging, testing and achieving results.

Ugo Riccio: “The Revuelto and the airflow come into contact at every corner, it's the sense of its style”

“Revuelto is a masterpiece of integration of design and aerodynamics”, argues Ugo Riccio.
“Just see how Revuelto and the airflow come into contact at every corner: that's the essence of his style.”
“High-velocity air passes through the front fender along the side of the car: at all times, the way the air comes into contact with the Revuelto is a testament to the quality of the design; we always find a balance between form and performance. The handles are also designed to optimize air flow”
And yet: “Take the roof for example: it creates as much space as possible in the cabin for the people inside, but the shape in the center is specifically optimized for airflow, reducing drag and pushing air towards the rear wing of the car. The three wing positions that optimize efficiency, speed, handling and downforce in various ways are proof of Lamborghini's aerodynamic innovations, while the wing design makes the profile of the Revuelto pleasant and fascinating in every position."
“Every aspect of the Revuelto is the result of the balance between form and performance: the design has allowed us to dominate the air”.
