Nicolas Bideau: “Little is known about our innovative strength”

“Switzerland's image abroad is generally positive, but often imbued with easy stereotypes linked to the worldwide fame of our chocolate, our cheeses or our wonderful mountains. However, little is known about Switzerland's innovative strength and importance in the fields of science and technology", comments Ambassador Nicolas Bideau, head of Presence Switzerland, the office responsible for nation branding of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
"The project of a traveling House of Switzerland was born from the desire to highlight the innovative, original and sustainable sides of Switzerland and arouse the surprise effect in the public who will come to visit us".

The project thus sees the intervention of numerous partners, first of all Switzerland Global Enterprise (SG-E) and Switzerland Tourism, but also cantons, cities, research institutes, associations and companies.
Not only that: the "House of Switzerland" initiative also involves many Italian partners, such as MIND (Milan Innovation District) and MEET.
"In this moment of restart, it seemed appropriate to tell the dynamism, creativity and inventiveness of an innovative and sustainable Switzerland, still partly unknown", specifies Sabrina Dallafior, Consul General of Switzerland in Milan.

“Moreover, all this is in line with the foreign policy strategy that the Federal Council has recently adopted: it is not just a question of highlighting unexpected and original features, but also of deepening the dialogue with a prominent neighbor and partner, with which we share linguistic, cultural and much more ties. Let's not forget that trade in goods and services between Switzerland and Italy, for example, amounts to one billion francs a week".
