Swissnex is the Swiss global network that connects the Swiss Confederation and the world of education, research and innovation.
Its mission is to help its partners build a network of international contacts and to encourage their active participation in the exchange of knowledge, ideas and talents.
Last year was marked by a return to presence activities around the world.
Swissnex is in fact an initiative of the State Secretariat for Training, Research and Innovation (SERI) and is part of the external network of the Swiss confederation, led by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Its activities are based on a cooperative approach involving different partnerships and both public and private funding.
The annual report, which can be consulted at annualreport.swissnex.org, highlights a whole range of projects, ideas and challenges for the Swissnex network implemented throughout the world in 2022.

Six proactive headquarters around the world and 21 scientific advisers to embassies

Twenty years of Swissnex, satisfaction and successful meetings

An Indo-Swiss innovation platform and the pop-up happening “So Swiss!” in China

The first “Swiss-US Quantum Days”, organized by Swissnex Boston and New York, brought together key players from both countries in Chicago in October to further solidify the ties between the US and Swiss quantum ecosystems.
In Brazil it has allowed Swiss researchers and scientists to explore the scientific diversity of the marshes of the Brazilian Pantanal, the largest private nature reserve in the South American country.
Swissnex in India laid the groundwork for the launch of an Indo-Swiss innovation platform focused on antimicrobial resistance.
In San Francisco he addressed, during the visit of the Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin, the theme of the future of work and working spaces.
A multidisciplinary discussion was also held to illustrate innovative approaches to collaboration for a post-pandemic future.
And despite the challenges related to COVID-19, the “So Swiss!” pop-up event sponsored by Swissnex in China showcased theSwiss excellence to a diverse Chinese audience.

New Swiss Consulate in Osaka and an important network node in Japan

The former president of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassisand the secretary of state Martina Hirayama attended the opening ceremony of the new Swiss Consulate in Osaka and Swissnex in Japan in April.
This inauguration marks another milestone on the expansion path of Swissnex and underlines the firm commitment of the Red Cross country to strengthen the partnership with Japan in the fields of training, research and innovation.
