Up to 550km/h within existing rail corridors

MagRail will allow infrastructure managers to deliver ultra-high speeds (until 550km/h or 342mph) within existing rail corridors, which will result in a substantial reduction in construction time and costs compared to the defined High Speed ​​Rail projects.
This hybrid solution enables both ai magnetic vehicles than conventional trains to operate on the same lines, without any changes to the existing rolling stock.

The slipway saddles were closed in 2012; from that moment, the yard was frequented only by a few trains performing recomposition manoeuvres, and soon became a rolling stock depot awaiting demolition.
At the beginning 2018 the decision was made to partially exploit the external circulation circuit to establish, together with a newly built curve, a closed railway path, consisting of an oval of about 6 km in length, to be used as a test circuit: the first train traveled on October 15 of that same year
The circuit follows the line of Northern External Circulation of the previous marshalling yard; on the western side, near the launch saddles, a curve of 200 meters radius, in relief, in order to close the ring.
The ring of the circuit measures overall 5.759 meters, of which approx 2 km double track with type rails UNI 60; the power supply is 3 kiloVolt in direct current.
The maximum speed on the circuit is 120 km/h, which can be raised to 140.

In this way, heavy civil works and the relative investments will be avoided

It will be an important step to bring the innovative technology of Nevomo, a company with two headquarters in Crans-Montana in the Canton of Valais and in Warsawstill under development on the European rail market. It is expected that MagRail it will be compatible with the existing rail system and will allow for the upgrade of conventional as well as high-speed rail transport.
A speed increase will follow until 75 percent compared to existing alignments, without the need to build new infrastructure. This will mean avoiding all heavy civil works and related investments.
The collaboration agreement RFI-Nevomo, lasting one year, focuses on knowledge sharing and analysis of the Italian railway network to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of implementing the technology MagRail on selected routes.
The agreement also mentions the acceleration of the technology, aimed at its integration with the railway system.

In Emilia-Romagna all the necessary conformity assessment
