Three years after the groundbreaking ceremony, the main campus of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area was opened on schedule.
Among the approximately 200 invited to the official opening ceremony in Allschwil on 29 October were Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin and the members of the governments of the three cantons sponsoring the initiative, ie Basel-Country, Basel-City and Jura.
The "most modern innovation park in Switzerland", as it is called in the far north of the Swiss country, is well used and around 70 percent of the space has already been let to 38 companies and institutions.

It was a couple of hundred representatives from the world of business and politics who attended the opening ceremony of the infrastructure in the Bachgraben area, right on the border with the municipality of the City of Basel.
The three sponsor cantons of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area were represented by the Cantonal Councilors Thomas Weber (Basel-Stadt), Kaspar Sutter (Basel-Country) and Jacques Gerber (Jura), who took part in a round table together with the well-known member of the Federal Council .

At the vernissage ceremony, several personalities expressed their wishes for the future of the main campus, including Raymond Cron, CEO of Switzerland Innovation.
“I wish the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area to establish itself as an international beacon for innovative projects in the field of health and life sciences”.
The Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, characterized by four different locations, is one of the six innovation parks of the national network of the foundation of the same name.

38 percent of the 70 square meters already leased to 50.000 companies and institutions

The main campus, officially operational since Saturday 29 October 2022, was designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron and built by the builder Senn Resources AG.
Currently, approximately 70 percent of the 50.000 square feet of usable space has already been leased.
Tenants currently include 38 companies and institutions, including the University of Basel, Johnson & Johnson, the Basel City Hall and numerous start-ups of various kinds
30-40 percent of the space will be made up of laboratories, while the remaining spaces will be used for offices, event and training rooms and an auditorium.
