A meeting was held in Bern between the Jordanian Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahafzah, and the Secretary of State for Training, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation, Martina Hirayama.
At the center of the talks, on 14 February, was the Swiss system of professional training.
During the business meeting, both sides declared themselves satisfied with the good scientific reports and they talked extensively about the training system red cross.
The conversation focused on the division of labor between the public and private sectors, on how to ensure the attractiveness of professional training for young people in the long term, on the permeability of the system, on the social recognition of dual training and employment prospects.
The meeting with the Minister took place on the sidelines of a Jordanian delegation's trip to Switzerland.
In addition to the talks at the State Secretariat for Training, Research and Innovation, Minister Azmi Mahafzah visited a number of places, including a cantonal career information and guidance centre, a company and a vocational school.

At HES-SO, the “Leading House” mandate for North Africa and the Middle East has been renewed

For the period 2021-2024, SERI has once again entrusted the Western Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (HES-SO) the “Leading House” mandate for North Africa and the Middle East.
In this context, HES-SO initiates cooperation instruments for seed funding and innovative pilot projects.
Another tool are the bags of excellence of Confederation, which since 1968 have allowed 14 Jordanian researchers to spend a period of study at a university Switzerland.
Over the two days, a Jordanian delegation was welcomed at the SUFFP of Renens in the canton of Vaud from Mergim Jahiu, which introduced ie the participants in the Swiss system di professional training and who later accompanied the same people on a visit to the BIZ Bern (vocational guidance centre), the vocational school GIBB, also in the capital, the EMCH, a company trainer.

Jordan is also a member state (as well as a host) of the large SESAME research center (“Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East”), where the Switzerland it has observer status since 2010.
SESAME, which Egypt also adheres to, Israel, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Turkey and Cyprus, hosts the first particle accelerator in the Middle East and makes a significant contribution to peaceful development and scientific cooperation in the area.
