A truly record-breaking NOI Hackathon SFSCON Edition in Bolzano

90 young talents competed in South Tyrol to respond to 7 software-hardware business challenges in 24 hours of non-stop programming

The official gong of the SFSCON Edition Hackathon rang in Bolzano sharply at 15.00 pm on Friday 10 November.

So ninety developers and creatives gathered at the NOI Techpark, ready to work for twenty-four hours straight on the challenges of seven companies.

Konverto, VMWare, Beez, Gruber Logistics, Infominds, Systems and Mooovex, in collaboration with lvh, asked the teams to respond to real business problems with innovative digital solutions.

Many ideas have been developed: from an online marketplace for buying and selling digital goods to an easy-to-use voice recognition interface for booking apps, up to the tracking of goods transport vehicles thanks to image recognition and machine learning .

Also the international conference on free software with over 1000 participants

The hackathon was organized in collaboration with the Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano Foundation as part of SFSCON, the international conference on free software, which took place at NOI Techpark attracting over 1000 participants.

For two days they discussed the latest trends and technological innovations in the open source panorama and 90 of them participated in the inevitable programming marathon and got involved in the challenges launched by the participating companies, including the two supporters of the This year's SFSCON Edition hackathon.

VMware, a leading international provider of multi-cloud services with an R&D headquarters within the Bolzano technology park, was looking for a solution to optimize the electric car charging experience through artificial intelligence.

The IntelliCharge group has been able to revolutionize the charging experience using AI models such as facial expression and license plate recognition, together with a front-end service that draws on data from the Open Data Hub to suggest to users, during charging, places of interest to visit.

Konverto, a local IT solutions provider, called for innovative solutions to use high-resolution satellite imagery for agricultural applications.

The CosmicCarrots working group has developed a platform that provides farms with valuable information on the impact of climate change on their fields, as well as the best time to harvest and the state of development compared to neighboring agricultural areas.
