The creation of new professions occurs above all to meet developments and themes such as sustainability and ecology, as well as to satisfy the economic world's related need for qualified personnel.

From the 2024 school year, apprentices in the new profession of AFC solar system installer will, for example, assemble, install, maintain and repair solar systems on flat roofs, pitched roofs, or on facades.

In this way they transform building envelopes into energy production systems and comply with energy efficiency and climate protection requirements.

At the tertiary level, future building envelope designers will be the professionals specializing in the creation of complete building envelopes or parts thereof during new constructions or renovations.

To ensure the quality of the building envelope, they particularly clarify the requirements regarding connections between building parts.

They recognize critical success factors and develop appropriate solutions and at the same time take sustainability criteria into account.

In this context, at least every five years all basic vocational training is subjected to a review in light of new economic, technological, ecological and educational developments and, if necessary, is modified.

The higher vocational training courses and qualifications are also regularly reviewed and adapted to new developments.
